PFAS Firefighter Gear Lawsuits Against Textile Companies, Other Manufacturers
We are currently investigating possible PFAS firefighter gear lawsuits for firemen and their families. This is because firemen who wore PFAS-containing firefighter attire and gear such as overalls, jackets, and helmets have an increased risk of PFAS-related cancers, including:
- testicular cancer
- thyroid cancer
- kidney cancer
- bladder cancer
- prostate cancer
- pancreatic cancer
- liver cancer
It is important to know that firemen had been told in the past that there was no PFAS in their firefighter gear and, therefore, the firemen were led to believe they were not at an increased risk of PFAS-related cancers.
It turns out, however, that many firefighters have had significant exposures to PFAS over many years because of how their fire-protectant attire and gear were made — with substantial amounts of PFAS chemicals.
Put otherwise, textile companies and fire equipment manufacturers did not fully inform firemen about the extent of PFAS chemicals in their overalls, jackets, and helmets, as well as other firefighter attire and gear.
Accordingly, due to no fault of their own, firemen have been and still are at an increased risk of developing PFAS-related cancers because of their past exposures to PFAS chemicals in the clothes and gear worn by firemen while doing their job of putting out fires, day after day.
Because of this failure to warn firemen about these harmful PFAS exposures they had daily while doing their public safety job of fighting fires, we are investigating PFAS firefighter gear lawsuits that involve firemen diagnosed with testicular cancer, thyroid cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, and other PFAS-related cancers.
These personal injury cases on behalf of firemen and wrongful death cases on behalf of their surviving families will be filed as individual lawsuits, not as class action cases. This is true for all injury or death cases involving PFAS-containing firefighter attire and gear.
